Writing

Terra has just finished writing the draft of their epic adventure story, walking solo and unsupported 17,200kms around Australia. They have also contibuted stories, photos and interviews to numerous adventure blogs and publications.

They wrote an expedition story published in Journey to Eternity, an anthology of mountain and climbing adventures, written by women and queer folk, curated by Wendy Bruere and Emily Small.

Journey To Eternity

More recently Terra contributed to Adventures in Climate Science, an important collection of field notes and observations from scientists in the fields of climate change and conservation.

Terra had to learn to face their fear of public speaking, newspapers and community radio and chose to become vulnerable through story telling while they walked around Australia for suicide prevention. They discovered quickly the best way to help others is by letting listeners and readers know they are not alone in life’s darkest moments and that the light of joy is amplified when shared.

Expeditions

Hear stories of a life filled with adventures bursting with edge-of-the-seat excitement, deep connections and nail-biting misadventure. 25,000kms of solo trekking, multi-month stints alone in the wilderness, some near-death experiences and several record setting expeditions including the first non-binary/woman to walk unsupported and unaccompanied around Australia, the longest solo/unsupported walk around Australia (17,200kms) and the longest snowshoe trek across the Australian alps. Terra has the ability to describe places, people and events in such detail audiences feel like they experiencing it for themselves. Terra loves Q&As, it gives the audience a chance to imagine, learn from mistakes and equips the audience with tools of knowledge to pursue their own adventures.

Empowerment

Terra’s experiences tell of bravery, strength and perseverance through extreme hardship to self awareness, finding purpose and turning dreams into reality. Each experience comes with anecdotes, recovery and survival. The trauma they have lived through, bullying, grooming, gender dysphoria, multiple rapes, an abusive relationship, moaist terrorism, first responder PTSD, homelessness, mental illnesses, autism and brain injury has all been processed with professional help. Now Terra can look back and smile understanding how everything has taught them to bend and strengthen, like a tree in a storm, how to make the most of this one life they’ve been given and not take themselves too seriously. Audiences laugh and cry as Terra takes them on a journey through adversity, finding happiness and sharing insight. Talks are tailor-made for your audience.

Testimonials

“Terra spoke at the book launch for Journey to Eternity. They are an engaging and inspiring speaker, with a limitless collection of personal anecdotes and experiences to draw from. Audience members later commented on how much they enjoyed listened to Terra’s adventures and insights.”

Wendy Bruere – Author Journey To Eternity and Climber

“I saw Terra speak at the Women’s Adventure Expo in 2017 and she was incredible. So articulate, inspiring, but down to earth. Terra spoke about the epic 17,000km trip around Australia and made me feel like anything was possible. We stayed in contact and I planned to join Terra on the Climb8 Expedition but sadly Covid got in the way. I look forward to joining an adventure one day, and if not…being fully inspired watching Terra take on the world one step/peddle at a time,”

Brooke Nolan – Author and Arctic Explorer

“One windy Saturday in late 2019 I visited an outdoor expo in Melbourne. It was small and suburban. I had taken 4 minutes to scan the room and was about to leave. Upfront a speaker was being introduced to the motley audience. Something about that she had gone on foot around Australia. I stopped and listened some more; then something clicked and I quickly scanned my socials. Yes, Terra and I were in fact connected. I stood riveted at the back of the room listening to her genuine, funny, tender yet tough story-telling about her expedition. The gobsmacked audience, I think, found her to be beyond ambitious. When she announced her Climb8 initiative I knew immediately how I would be spending part of my winter.”
